What do I need to wear?
The most important item of clothing is a comfortable pair of walking shoes. Trainers are fine, but a waterproof pair of walking shoes may be preferable if the ground is wet underfoot. Otherwise, comfortable clothing that is suitable for the time of year. In summer, we recommend that you wear a hat and suncream; in winter, a waterproof coat, hat and gloves will make your class more enjoyable.
What equipment do I need?
None. Your instructor will provide you with a pair of walking poles from Exel, the worlds foremost Nordic walking pole brand.
Do your classes run in the rain?
Yes! Classes run throughout the year. The only weather that forces us to cancel for health and safety reasons is thunder and lightning, high winds and heavy snow. In the rain we recommend that you wear a waterproof outer layer and in the snow a pair of walking boots, in order to prevent snow from getting inside your shoes.
How fit do I need to be?
If you can walk you can nordic walk. We can tailor most of our classes to suit a range of abilities, but some specialised classes are aimed at walkers of faster speeds.
Where are your classes held?
We currently run classes in Clare Castle Country Park and Nowton Park, Bury St Edmunds and Barrow. However, we can arrange a class near you if you have a group of friends who would like to form a class. Please contact us to discuss.
Can I just join a regular group?
We advise you to take part in a beginners workshop first. There are 10 steps to master the technique, which we will focus on during the workshops.
